Wooden Slide built into a small stepped home library in the ‘Panorama House, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea designed by architect Moon Hoon

A statement by the architect:

The basic request of upper and lower spatial organization and the shape of the site prompted a long and tin house with fluctuating facade which would allow for more differentiated view. The key was coming up with a multi-functional space which is a large staircase, bookshelves, casual reading space, home cinema, slide and many more…
The client was very pleased with the design, and the initial design was accepted and finalized almost instantly, only with minor adjustments. The kitchen and dining space is another important space where family gathers to bond. The TV was pushed away to a smaller living room. The attic is where the best view is possible, it is used as a play room for younger kids. The multi-use stair and slice space brings much active energy to the house, not only children, but also grown ups love the slide staircase…An action filled playful house for all ages…

If I ever have a kid, and if I ever have so much money to make such a thing (or similar) — my kids will have that too!

  2. Awesome! This is fun and creative and wonderful for us book lovers.

  3. I WANT that library! Yes, including the slide! What a great idea, to build shelves into stairs, instead of shelves that require a ladder. Brilliant!

  4. Brilliant! Multifunctional space indeed! Mish mash of playground and library program. Excellent!

  5. Ha ha, too awesome for words! Now if only I didn’t have to worry about student loans…

  6. Ha! That is way too fun.

Stairs, library and a slide. What could be better.

  9. Awesome.

    There should be slides everywhere.
