Series of photos from the amazing installation by Nendo at the Stockholm International Furniture Fair.

An installation created for the entrance hall for the main exhibition space at the Stockholm International Furniture Fair 2013,by Nendo. They laser-cut and stretched 80 sheets of 5mm polystyrene into a set of partitions shaped like mountains, and arranged them to create a landscape of snow-capped mountain ranges in the space. It expresses the way design expands, starting from a single small idea- a method at the basis of our design philosophy. Nendo also wanted to minimize the exhibition’s environmental impact. They stretched the polystyrene sheets on site so that the delivery only needed one truck, and the sheets could be flattened for clearing from the site and recycled. / by designandprojects

Multi-colored stripe sculptures of Kyotaro Hakamata. Kyotaro Hakamata creates wonderfully colorful statues using multi-color stripes. His works, which are usually in the likeness of human bodies or body parts, are at first hardly recognizable. But that is the exact intent of the artist. “Stripes are very strong visible elements. They destroys shapes”. The contradiction that stripes (as a shape) can actually hinder our ability to recognize shapes is what interested Hakamata. Barcode Room by ‘studio 01′ – Alex Knezo and Akinori Hamada who designed a studio apartment made for a single resident and allows itself to be transformed into a space where one can live and friends can gather. Furniture-walls move freely from side to side on a track. storage is embedded within these bars, permitting the resident to customize the size of space to fit a variety of uses. (via designboom)

A transformation of an exterior wall in a small house outside Sao Paolo, by Rosenbaum architects. The wall has changed into a small vertical garden where a series of cascading plastic bottles are hanging from strings. The plastic containers have been reused as planters filled with soil for different kinds of flowers, and medicinal herbs.

Photographic project named ‘Judgments’, the young graphic artist Rosea Lake

Prudish. Flirty. Whore. Proper. Cheeky. Slut. These are just a few of the words that could be used to describe a woman’s sexual behavior based on her appearance alone, and 18-year-old college freshman Rosea Lake chose to display them starkly — on a young woman’s legs in a photo that has since gone viral.

“If you see a girl wearing something you see as distasteful, then you automatically discount them as a person and you don’t give them the opportunity to really be somebody in your eyes,” said Lake, 18. “And that’s really shameful.”

The ARK Booktower by Rintala Eggertsson as part of the ’1:1 Architects Build Small Spaces’ exhibition back in 2010 at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London, UK. The structure consisted of a timber tower with walls of books enclosing a spiral stair case and a central core. My photographs analyze the relationship between humanity and environment in a muted and simple manner.  In the broadest sense, all humans identify with an environment, whether on a macro level of habitation and commerce or locally through interactions within ones culture.  My purpose in examining this relationship with a camera is to document the effects that humanity brands upon its environment, whether visible or obscured.  The resulting images illustrate a simultaneous portrait of domain, human existence and control – byproducts of a relationship that all individuals have with the space around them.
